Insulated Glass Replacement
Insulated glass has a life span of between 15 and 25 years, after which the perimeter seals fail and moisture migrates into the space between the glass. This is evidenced by moisture and mineral deposits on the interior of the glass. When this occurs the only remedy is to replace the glass with a new unit.
On wood windows this is substantially less expensive than replacing it with a new window. Vinyl, metal, and fiberglass windows must have the entire sash or in some cases, the entire window and frame replaced as the glass is bonded to the sash and non removable. These are called
throw away windows.
